Designed for comfort and more importantly Trail Running, these shoes might just be my new love.
Salomon Trailster.
I got these shoes through Arthur James this past winter and when I opened the box I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at. Up until this point I had never heard of the Trailster before, let alone a pair of salomon shoes that did not have their most notable fast lacing system.
The first thing that caught my fancy about these shoes was how light the shoe was, and the grip, A++. Instantly I couldn't wait to try them.

It has been almost a year since these shoes were handed to me and many adventures have they been on.
These shoes pack and ride light, I can feel the trail below my feet beautifully, AND toe box is wide enough for those of us who have a wider foot. Other reviews will note that runners found the toe box to be narrow causing blisters but I have yet to experience this and have collapsed arches resulting in a wider foot.
These shoes are easy to clean and dry quickly. This I have put to the test many a time, running in the rain, climbing Gros Morne Mountain multiple times and countless mud puddles.
Let's talk stability.
A year ago I sprained my ankle badly while training for my ultramarathon, at the time I was wearing a pair of XA Elevates. That was the last time I wore those shoes and immediately went out and bought the Sense Rides, and from there I bought my Trailsters. Out of all three styles of shoe, I found that the Trailsters had the best stability. I have tested this theory on numerous occasions. For example in the past month I have been notably switching between both pairs of shoes (Sense rides- Trailster), I have rolled my ankle three times all while wearing the sense rides. These shoes have a thick ankle cushioning aiding in stability while running on various types of terrain.
The trailsters come equipped with the new Contagrip sole which offers superior traction on the trails aiding in stability.
These shoes also come in a GTX model or goretex model at a slightly more expensive price point.
The non Goretex Model retails for about $130, while GTX is about $160.
A few other noteable points;
These shoes are great for a heel strikers (and Mid Foot)
They have a 10mm drop
Standard lacing system
Standard Fit
weight: 260g
The only CON: The lacing system. I find these shoes have a waxy lace causing them to come undone even when double knotted.
I give these shoes a 9/10 and would recommend.
Running or Hiking, These shoes have got it all.
