When I started Trail Running a few years ago, I had NO Idea what to look for in a trail running shoe, let alone what type of shoe I would want.
As a runner who has struggled with wide feet her whole life, and more recently IT Band Problems., Trail Running shoes were foreign territory.
When I got my first fitting ( it was my first REAL fitting for any pair of running shoes) I was placed in a pair of Sacouny Peregrines. I immediately loved these shoes and couldn't wait to hit the trails.
Truth be told, these shoes served their purpose 100x over. Not only did I use them on the trails but I used them road running as well. They seemed to be the best all around shoe I had ever had.
Since then, I have come a long way. Turns out, Sacouny changed the make of the shoe so much that I couldn't wear them anymore. This resulted in a heart broken and broken broken road runner. My IT band issued prevailed causing me to take almost a year off from a sport that I truly loved.
Taking time off from running was one of the toughest things mentally that Ive ever had to do. To explain this to someone who is a non runner, or not an athlete... well you're better off goin' home.
